Review of the Month: Earl Grey Tea

Hello, Tea Lovers!

This month, I wanted to indulge in a classic blend. In my cherished assortment of tea blends, Earl Grey reigns supreme in popularity. However, strangely enough, I find myself consciously setting it aside, unable to take that first sip. Is it because I can’t imagine black tea without milk?

Well, yes. One of my dearest friends says that embracing black tea in its pure form offers a whole new spectrum of flavours and experiences that can surprise even the most devoted milk-tea enthusiasts. Not to mention how black tea without milk is undoubtedly a healthier option.

So, after a lot of self-coaxing, I decided to pick up KingCha’s Earl Grey Tea.

Brewing The Perfect Cup of Earl Grey Tea

The moment I opened the elegant sample package of KingCha’s Earl Grey Tea, a symphony of aromas enveloped my senses. The crushed black tea leaves were mixed with dried peels of orange that provided a nice contrast of colour visually. The aroma was dominated by the enchanting fragrance of bergamot, a citrus fruit that lends Earl Grey tea its signature scent. As I inhaled deeply, I was transported to a lush orchard bearing a rich fruity fragrance with earthy undertones of tea gardens.

Following KingCha’s brewing instructions, I began steeping the tea leaves in a cup of boiling water for a few minutes waiting to see the translucent colour transform. At first, the water bore a champagne-like colour but after some time, it converted to a deep amber hue.

When I sat down on my comfortable couch and took the first sip of the tea, I was mesmerized. It had a strikingly smooth flavour and the subtle citrusy bergamot elegantly complemented the natural taste of black tea. The blend was masterfully balanced, neither overpowering nor lacking in any aspect. This balance, I later learned, was a testament to KingCha's dedication to sourcing high-quality ingredients.

The Tea Drinking Experience

I sipped on the tea for quite a long time while savouring my homemade biscuits. I realized or rather had a sort of revelatory experience of appreciating the art of tea blending. The bergamot's citrusy notes and the black tea's malty flavour blended together to create a complex and satisfying taste.

Tea, much like meditation, has the power to ground us in the present moment. With each sip of KingCha's Earl Grey Tea, I found myself immersed in a state of tranquillity. The ritual of preparing and enjoying the tea became a form of meditation, allowing me to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with the flavours and aromas in my cup.

Somehow, I found myself diving deeper into the intricate layers of flavour that this tea offered. It was as if the tea itself beckoned me to appreciate its pure essence. KingCha's Earl Grey transformed my perception of black tea, demonstrating that it could be a delightful experience on its own, without the need for any additives.
